Kauden päätösviikonlopussa nähtiin, kuinka tulokset maksimoidaan. Henri Tuomaala (39 Racing) nappasi upeasti voitot kaikista kolmesta kisasta. Myös muut debytantit ja vierailijat pärjäsivät komeasti, kun jaossa olivat kauden viimeiset pisteet Suomen Porsche Club Festivalilla 26.-27.8.
Päätösviikonloppu ajettiin mukavassa tunnelmassa, kun kisakaravaani suuntasi 10-vuotista taivaltaan juhlivan Porsche Club Festival Finlandin puitteisiin Alastaroon. Varikolle tosin tuli hieman edelliskisan harventama osanottajajoukko. Toisaalta, tämä avasi tilaisuuden debytanteille ja vieraskuskeille. Näistä erityisesti Henri Tuomaala (Team 39), Alex Ivanov (Est1 Racing) sekä Emil Westman (JKW Motorsport) esiintyivät edukseen.
Ennen lauantain kolmea kilpailua nähtiin kiitettävä määrä testausta vapaiden harjoitusten merkeissä, sekä aika-ajo. Kuten ennustettu, aika-ajojen kolmen kärki paljasti kisoissa palkintokoroke-ehdokkaiden todennäköisimmät nimet: Henri Tuomaala oli nopein ennen Alex Ivanovia ja Thomas Kangora (Porsche Estonia). Merkillepantavaa oli, että sekä Tuomaala että Ivanov tekivät debyyttinsä Porschen ratissa.
Lauantain kilpailuihin lähdettiin odottavisa tunnelmissa: kuinka pisteet lopulta jakautuisivat ja minkälaisia taistelupareja radalla muodostuisi? Lyhyesti sanottuna: Tuomaala dominoi kilpailuita. Hän ajoi jokaisen kisan paalulta voittoon usean sekunnin erolla takanatuleviin. Tämä siis tarkoitti sitä, että jokaisessa kisassa hän ajoi myös kisan nopeimman kierroksen.
-Tiesin, että perusnopeutta varmasti on autosta ja luokasta riippumatta, mutta lähdin viikonloppuun todella maltillisin odotuksin. Kun kisat lähtivät rullaamaan hienosti, sain lisää itseluottamusta. Kyllä tämä oli todella huikea kokemus: rata ja sarja tarjosivat mainiot puitteet ja auto oli erittäin miellyttävä ajaa, Tuomaala totesi vaatimattomasti.
Ivanov maksimoi Tuomaalan tavoin näyttöpaikkansa ja ajoi jokaisen kisan toiseksi - ja ajoi myös kolmesti toiseksi nopeimman kierrosajan. Heidän takanaan Kangro nappasi kaksi kolmossijaa. Emil Westman - jonka comebackien lukumäärässä ei enää pysytä mukana - näytti jälleen kylmänviileällä tyylillään, kuinka 991-luokan autolla pystyy pärjäämään. Rengasstrategian ja kisavauhdin maksimoiden hän nousi kolmannelle sijalle toisessa kisassa ja nappasi kaksi neljättä sijaa. Ja tietenkin 991-luokan voitot.
991-luokassa hyvän vastuksen Westmanille tarjosi Daniel Skurnik (D-Sports). Hyvistä otteista johtuen, ja pienestä sairastelusta huolimatta, Skurnik pokkasi viikonlopun herrasmieskuskin tittelin.
Toisessa kilpailussa hieman ylimääräistä toimintaa aiheutti Thomas Kangron pieni spinnaus, jonka siivittämänä hän putosi seitsemänneksi. Junior Program-kuljettaja sai punnerrettua itsensä takaisin neljänneksi uskaliaiden ohitusten myötä. Kolmannessa kisassa Westman oli jälleen kiinni kolmannessa sijassa, mutta hieman nopeampi Kangro 992-luokan autollaan puristi väkisin ohi. Aivan kisan loppuhetkillä nähtiin myös kolmen auton ulosajo, kun Jonne Kurikka (39 Racing) ajoi ohitusyrityksensä Raimo Kullista (Est1 Racing) pitkäksi, mistä seurasi myös törmäys Jukka Eerolan (JPE#18 Racing) kanssa.
Pistelaskun tuloksena Thomas Padovani (Est1 Racing) voitti sarjan mestaruuden, Thomas Kangro oli toinen, Jani Käkelä (39 Racing) oli kolmas. Viiden kärkeen mahtuivat myös Tommi Haru (4s) sekä Jonne Kurikka (5s). Pistetaulukko löytyy sivuiltamme:
Kausi paketoitiin lopulta siis miellyttävissä olosuhteissa Porsche-kansan keskellä aurinkoisessa säässä. Kaiken tämän tahdeissa oli ilo tutustua jälleen uusiin huippukuskeihin ja nähdä kovaa kilvanajoa radalla.

The season finale was a case in point how to maximise the opportunity. Henri Tuomaala (39 Racing) won all three races in his debut. The other newcomers and guest stars put up a show at the Porsche Club Festival Finland at Alastaro on 26.-27.8.
The season finale took place at Alastaro where the Porsche Club Festival Finland celebrated its 10th anniversary. Sadly, not all the participants made it to Alastaro after Pärnu. On the bright side, that partly opened the door for newcomers and guest stars. This group included drivers such as Henri Tuomaala (Team 39), Alex Ivanon (Est1 Racing) and Emil Westman (JKW Motorsport) who can all be extremely proud of their performance.
Before the racing on Saturday, everyone got a fair bit of free practice time ahead of the qualification on Friday. As predicted, the top three of the qualifying - Tuomaala, Ivanov, Kangro (Est1 Racing) - were the most competitive also in the races. Let's highlight the fact that Tuomaala and Ivanov made their debuts in the season finale and immediately locked the front row in qualifying!
With the qualifying done, the questions ahead of the races were: who would claim the points to form the final championship standings, and what sort of racing we would see. In short: Tuomaala literally dominated all Saturday long. He led the races from pole to finish with a yawning gap to others. Oh, and he claimed the fastest lap of each race.
-Before the races I had never driven a GT3 Cup car so my expectations about my pace were quite modest. But when I got the hang of it and good results followed, I became more and more confident with everything. The whole weekend was such a blast on this track in this series - not to mention that the car was such great fun to drive, Tuomaala summarised his victorious weekend.
Also Ivanov maximised his time in the spotlight by finishing each race in P2 - and clocked the second fastest time in all races. Thomas Kangro completed the podium twice in P3. Emil Westman - who made yet another warmly welcomed comeback - showed each and every trick on track and on the strategy board to claim a well deserved P3 in the second race. And that’s with a 991 car against the 992s! Naturally, he won the 991 class three times.
In the 991 class Daniel Skurnik (D-Sports) nobly conquered the challenges and finished P2 overall. With his strong performance, and despite being a bit under the weather, he clinched the gentleman driver’s title of the weekend.
The second race of the weekend Kangro was unlucky with a spin dropping from P3 to P7, but the Junior Program driver carved his way back up to P4 with some daring overtaking moves. Also the third race had an unfortunate event in the last laps when Jonne Kurikka (39 Racing) drove off after an overtaking attempt, resulting in DNF for himself, Raimo Kulli (Est1 Racing) and Jukka Eerola (JPE#18 Racing).
According to the points standings, Thomas Padovani (Est1 Racing) won the championship ahead of Thomas Kangro (2nd) Jani Käkelä (39 Racing) (3rd). The top 5 was completed by Tommi Haru (4th) and Jonne Kurikka (5th). The final points are available here:
So, the season was wrapped up in splendid conditions among the eager Porsche fans at the Club Festival. It was yet again a great pleasure to witness another bunch of newcomers and speactete the exciting racing.
